Dear Collingwood Families,
Collingwood School’s Board of Governors and Senior Leadership Team are excited to be engaging in a renewal of our Strategic Plan. We need your help in planning Collingwood School’s future!
You may recall we had planning sessions with the Board and Senior Management in the winter of 2019 and had just launched a survey to parents last February (2020) when we chose to pause our strategic planning due to COVID-19. We are now re-engaging with you with the goal of having the next Collingwood Strategic Plan ready to launch in September 2021.
As a critical component of this process, we are seeking the input of many stakeholder groups in our community about your experiences with Collingwood School and your hopes and expectations for the future. We will be gathering your valuable insights through a short online survey and through your participation in a facilitated online workshop led by our Strategic Plan consultants, Berlineaton, from now through March 2, 2021. You may view the workshop schedule to attend one of the facilitated online workshops here.
My hope is that all parents will find a few minutes to fill out the short survey—it is only 5 questions but will capture a lot of valuable information. I would also encourage parents to attend one of the in-person facilitated sessions on Zoom, specifically for parents February 22 to February 25, 2021. There are several options available.
We have designed each session to be 75 minutes long, allowing 15 minutes to introduce the process and one hour for discussion around unique stakeholder groups—there are separate sessions for parents, staff, faculty and alumni to really dive into the issues important to each group. You will see that we also have sessions with a professional Mandarin translator to allow for participation across our community. We will also be seeking feedback from our Grade 6-12 students through their own Student Survey as well as facilitated sessions on both campuses with a representative group of students.
Collingwood’s last Strategic Plan was created back in 2015 and to my knowledge, we haven’t done strategic planning quite like this before. Our goal during this six to eight-month process—is to be inclusive of our community and to engage with as many stakeholder groups as we can in order to capture as many voices as possible.
We look forward to hearing from our students, parents, staff, faculty and alumni to gauge what we’re doing well and where we have room to grow and improve. Thank you for collaborating with us as we look to shape Collingwood School’s future together!
