The girls' soccer team had a fantastic season. They won the ISA Championship for the first time since 2019 and the North Shore AA Championship for the fifth straight year. The Cavs went into the BC Championships with high hopes of a semi-final berth. Unfortunately, Collingwood lost a heart-breaking penalty shoot-out to host school Sa-Hali in pool play and this denied the team a chance at a medal. Here is Coach Mulock's report on the BC Championships.
The Senior Girls soccer team wrapped up an incredible provincial tournament, finishing 7th out of 16 qualifying teams (and 89 registered teams across BC).
Pool Play Highlights
Game 1 vs. Brookswood (3-1 Win): After a slow start, the Cavs dominated. Giahna Venier set the tone for the tournament with two goals, and Tavia Short added a third.
Game 2 vs. Sa-Hali (3-3 Tie / Shootout Loss): A fierce battle against the tournament hosts. Abby Walters, Tavia Short, and Giahna Venier all scored, but Sa-Hali answered every attack. Despite crucial shootout saves by keeper Naomi MacDougall, Sa-Hali took the extra point.
Game 3 vs. L.V. Rogers (2-0 Win): A dominant, shut-out performance to close out pool play.
Tournament Turning Point: Despite an exceptional, undefeated run in regulation, the shootout tiebreaker with Sa-Hali narrowly kept the Cavs out of the semi-finals.
Play Offs & Placing Matches
5th-Place Match vs. Charles Tupper (3-1 Loss): A highly physical rematch from Zones. After falling behind 1-0, Tavia Short scored a spectacular free kick to tie it up. Tupper reclaimed the lead and sealed the win off a late handball and free kick.
7th-Place Match vs. Stelly’s (1-0 Win): Hungry for a final victory, Giahna Venier chased down a midfield through-ball, beat her defender, and slotted home the game-winner. The defensive line held perfectly to secure the shutout and locking in 7th in BC.

Congratulations to the girls on an outstanding season and a phenomenal provincial run!

Tavia S was a key member of the senior soccer team for five years. In her time here, the Cavs won five straight North Shore AA Championships.

Tori V is another Grade 12 star who will be sorely missed next year.
