Soccer Cavs Defeat Rockridge To Win North Shore League Title
David Speirs

After an unfortunate drubbing at the hands of Windsor last week, the senior girls' soccer team seemed to have lost their chance to repeat as North Shore League Champions.  However, the league was so tight this year with the top four teams beating each other that Collingwood found themselves in a position to finish top of the table with a win over Rockridge yesterday.

And that's exactly what the Cavs did with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Ravens.  This gave Collingwood 15 points, which was 1 more than STA and 2 more than Windsor.  Coach Mulock's squad will now go into the Vancouver Sea-To-Sky Zone Championships as the #1 seed from the North Shore.

Here is a report from Coach Mulock on yesterday's huge win:

Fresh off a 1st place finish at the ISA Tournament, the Senior Girls carried that championship momentum into yesterday’s high-stakes battle against Rockridge for the North Shore Banner.

The game opened with relentless pressure from our side. In the 10th minute, Maddy G. unleashed a stunning strike from distance that sailed over the keeper to put Collingwood up 1-0.

Rockridge managed to equalize just after halftime, but our girls didn't blink. We reclaimed control with an attack to find the winner, sealing a 2-1 victory.

Congratulations to the team on a hard-fought win and for officially bringing the banner home to Collingwood!

Maddy G scored Collingwood's first goal in the big win over Rockridge.

Tavia S is in her fifth year with the senior team and is one of the real leaders of the squad.
