Project Excellence: A Centre for STEEM and New Learning Commons

Project Excellence is our vision to bring together our STEM and Entrepreneurship programs in a Centre for Excellence in STEEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Entrepreneurship and Math) while creating a new Learning Commons in the heart of our school.

Our goal is for this transformation to be 100% donor-funded. We cannot do this without you.

The Learning Commons

To adapt to today’s modern library spaces, we would like to utilize the current Commons to bring learning to the heart of the Senior School campus. Renamed to the Learning Commons, the space will continue to provide what the library always has – a space that can be utilized during classes for support with access to the tools and people resources that provide guidance and skill building. It will also serve as a visible, future-proofed space with access to the digitization of learning resources needed for research and analytical skills.

The Centre for Steem

Our present STEM and Entrepreneurship spaces markedly constrains collaboration and the creation, evaluation, and investigation stages of students’ work. The new Centre for STEEM will place emphasis on interdisciplinary, real-life, experiential learning providing students with the opportunity to collaborate, think critically, communicate effectively, and determine unique and creative solutions. With the creation of the Learning Commons that will become a new modern library space, the current Yasmin Karim Family Library will become Collingwood’s’ Centre for STEEM.

Support Project Excellence

Our current Class B estimate places the cost of the project at $2.5 Million. Our goal, based on funds raised, is to have the project completed for the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, ensuring immediate impact for our students. To ensure that this can be accomplished in this timeframe our goal was to reach 50% ($1.25M) by the end of February, 80% ($2M) by the end of April and 100% ($2.5M) by the end of June.

We are happy to share that we have currently raised $1.29M towards the project and now, with your help, we will raise an additional $1.21M to ensure that our students can benefit from these amazing new spaces in the next school year.

By joining us, you hold the key to bringing Project Excellence to life swiftly. Your support will ensure we deliver on our commitment to provide our students with forward-thinking, transformative learning experiences, both now and in the future.

To achieve our ambitious goal of raising 100% of the project cost through philanthropic contributions, we invite you and your family to make a gift now.
