Grade 2’s took part in an exciting field trip this week. The first half of the day was spent at Ambleside Beach with Ocean Ambassadors Canada learning about the life that lives in the intertidal zones. These creatures have to adapt to live half their life underwater and half in the water. Pretty amazing! The second part of the day was visiting PSEC (Pacific Enterprise Science Centre). Students learned even more about sea life and the real issues behind using single-use plastics. The Grade 2 scientists also learned how to use field microscopes to collect very important data. They were excited to end their day by feeding a tank of Arctic char which are being raised in tanks for research. Overall an amazing day! Now the Grade 2’s will take on an action project to help raise awareness of the problem of plastics in our oceans. What can we all do to make a difference?
