Collingwood Athlete Profiles - Stephanie and Tucker
Collingwood Athlete Profiles - Stephanie and Tucker

These are obviously interesting times.  Sport Writers across the world have literally nothing to write about.  Clearly, this is also true for a certain Collingwood Athletic Director who is used to bragging about the student-athletes he loves to cheer on every week.

However, we're not going to let a lack of games stop this sports blog.  We're going to continue to profile Collingwood's top student-athletes.  We're starting with Grade 12's who by all rights should be starring in Term 3 sports right now.  Please enjoy learning more about these amazing young men and women:

STEPHANIE GILLIES

SPORTS PLAYED AT COLLINGWOOD:

Field Hockey, Track and Field, Tennis

FAVOURITE COLLINGWOOD SPORTS MOMENT(S):

Winning field hockey provincials three years in a row. The best part is seeing our improvement as a team throughout the season and working so hard together to achieve what we did.

Travelling with the school to the Cal Cup field hockey tournament.

Being part of the incredible community that has been formed through the Collingwood athletics program. I have had so much fun bonding with my own teammates and coaches, supporting other Collingwood sports teams, and having others (parents, teachers and friends) come to support us at games. We are so lucky to have such a special spirit at our school, and it will always be one of my favourite things about Collingwood.

TUCKER LAKE

SPORTS PLAYED AT COLLINGWOOD:

Soccer, Alpine, Basketball in Grade 9 and 10

FAVOURITE COLLINGWOOD SPORTS MOMENT(S):

Winning 3 penalty shootouts during the season and then back-to-back penalty shootout wins in playoffs last year. The confidence we had as a team going into them was unlike anything I've ever seen before.

(Editor's Note - In Grade 11 and 12, Tucker never missed a penalty shot so he was crucial to all these wins.)

Coming back to win in penalties against Mulgrave this year. All our fans came to support, and we didn't let them down.

Just being able to play with some of my closest friends.
