Yes, we ask that all campers be fully toilet trained and able to manage their bathroom needs independently (including clothing and wiping) before their first day.

We understand that "accidents" can happen! If one occurs, we’ll reach out to parents to come and assist their child. However, if a camper is consistently struggling to manage independently, they may be asked to withdraw from the program to ensure they are in an environment better suited to their needs. Please note that refunds are not provided in these instances.

If your child is not going to attend for a day, we appreciate being notified as early as possible by email, preferably by 8:00am.
Refunds or credits are not provided for any missed days.
 

Absolutely! We love welcoming campers from all over the world. To ensure every child has a safe, fun, and successful week, we do require that campers are comfortable speaking and understanding English. Since our activities involve quick instructions and group safety protocols, being able to communicate easily helps everyone stay safe and included.

Please review our language policy in the consent form during registration to ensure our environment is the right fit for your child’s current level.

A lunch program is available to select with your campers registration. There is a $90 fee for the lunch program. This program is only available for FULL DAY campers. Meals are prepared and catered by our current school lunch providers. There is a different menu each week of summer camp. We only have one option for the lunch program which includes dairy, gluten and meat.

Please send a nutritious nut-free snack for both the mid-morning and mid-afternoon breaks if you choose this option. If you choose not to order the lunch program, please send in a nut-free lunch as well as two nut-free snacks (for full-day).

Considering the active day ahead, campers should have a hearty breakfast prior to arrival. Please note that Collingwood School cannot guarantee an allergy-free environment. All campers must be able to identify their allergies and carry the needed medication for treatment.

Not at all! Campers registered for both morning and afternoon sessions are supervised during lunch hour (12:00pm – 12:30pm). Our team will ensure they eat and get to their afternoon program on time. Regarding food, you have two great options--pack a nut-free lunch from home or sign up for our catered lunch option during registration.

Yes! We have a Lost & Found box located in the small gym. At the end of every day unclaimed items found throughout campus are put in the Lost & Found. We keep lost items until August 15th and then donate any unclaimed items. We strongly suggest that you label all items and clothing that are brought to camp. Campers are welcome to visit any time, with staff supervision or permission to go check, to see if we have their lost item(s). Parents are welcome to contact the front desk or the staff of their camper’s group to report/inquire about an item at any time. 

Please do not send your child to camp with electronics (phones, video games, tablets, iPads or computers). Camp is a chance for your child to unplug and connect with other campers and nature. If a camper arrives with a device at camp, we will ask them to keep it in their bag during camp hours 8:40 am and 3:30 pm, including lunch and recess breaks.  If it becomes a distraction we will hold onto it until the end of the day.

We recommend the following: 

• dress in layers for the changing weather conditions. Extra layers are always a good idea.
• waterproof jacket and pants if there is a chance of rain. All camps include some outdoor programming
• closed-toed shoes such as running shoes. No sandals please. 
• hat and sunscreen
• reusable water bottle and multiple nut-free snacks
• nut-free lunch (if you have not purchased the lunch program)
   

For our Signature Camp campers, every Wednesday we have a dress up day to add a little sizzle to the week. We like to call it 'WACKY WEDNESDAY'. We'll send you a reminder email the week before camp starts with that week's theme. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

The themes are:

You can process a refund through your ACTIVE registration account up until May 15th, 2026. There is no cancellation fee until March 31st, 2026, but you will not get back the 3% credit card processing fee. 

From April 1st - May 15th there is a 15% cancellation fee for each program you cancel, again you will not get back the 3% credit card processing fee. 

No refund is available for cancellations on or after May 15th, unless a medical note is provided by a physician. In this case, a refund or partial refund may be granted, at the discretion of the Camp Director. Please reach out to our Camp Office about the information required in a doctor’s note supporting a refund request. These partial medical refunds are only available for campers who must miss three or more consecutive days of camp. If the full week must be missed due to a medical reason, you can choose to transfer your camper’s registration to a future week during the SAME summer, pending availability. A $50.00 transfer fee will apply. 

No refunds will be provided for inclement weather, power outages or for days of camp not attended.
 

The fee for Before and/or After Care only will be fully refunded if cancelled by the Wednesday at 12:00pm in the week prior to the Before and/or After Care in question. This only applies to Before and/or After Care fees, and the camp registration must be maintained. 

No refund will be provided for Before and/or After Care cancellations received after Wednesday at 12:00pm of the week before the Before and/or After Care in question, or for any days of Before and/or After Care missed.

Camp registration for Collingwood families begins on March 9th, 2025 at 10:00am.

Registration for campers outside the Collingwood School community are welcome to register starting on March 12th, 2026 at 10:00am.

Campers must register for the grade they are attending in September 2026 (usually lines up with their birth year):

• Explorers (born 2021 and entering K)
• Wonderers (born 2020/2019 and entering Grade 1-2)
• Adventurers (born 2018/2017/2016 and entering Grade 3-5)
• Innovators (born 2015/2014/2013 and entering Grade 6-8)
• The Leadership Pathway (born 2015/2014/2013/2012 entering Grade 6-9)

If you have registered for the same program (age, week, area of focus) online then the participants will be placed together. 

While we do everything possible to avoid cancellations, occasionally a program may not reach the minimum number of campers needed to provide a high-quality experience. If this happens, we’ll reach out to you right away to find the best solution. We can help move your child into an exciting alternate program or a different week where space is available. If an alternative doesn't work for your schedule, we will, of course, provide a full refund of all fees paid for that session.

We strongly suggest that you add your name to the waitlist as plans change and spaces may become available. You can add your camper to a waitlist through your ACTIVE registration account at any time. 

It is difficult to say the chances of a spot becoming available as this varies from week to week, program to program, and also on the number of campers on the waiting list. 

You will receive an email from ACTIVE letting you know if a space becomes available. You will have 24 hours to accept the spot. If you don’t accept it within that time, the spot will be released to the next person on the waitlist and you will be removed from the waitlist. 

The best chance of being offered a spot off a waiting list is before or very soon after May 31, as parents can receive a full refund for cancellations prior to this date. The closer we get to camp, the more cancellations diminish, but they definitely do still occur.

Please only put your camper on waiting lists that you are prepared to accept, and remove your child from waitlists of programs that you no longer want. This will help ensure that those campers who do want the spots are given the opportunity, if available.
 

Camp program fees include high-quality programming, supervision by experienced Collingwood Camps staff with low ratios, and the use of our beautiful Wentworth Campus facilities and equipment - both indoors and outdoors, for all its camp programs. 

We only pro-rate the program fee for weeks that include a statutory holiday (ie: Canada Day). All other weeks are based on a 5-day week. Refunds will not be provided for days of camp not attended.

Payment in full is required at the time of registration.

You may pay by Visa, MasterCard or AMEX.

Credit card payments are subject to a 3% credit card processing fee, which will be added at checkout. Please note that if you decide to cancel your registration, and you are eligible for a refund, the 3% credit card processing fee is non-refundable.
 

You are able to change/transfer your program through the ACTIVE registration site up until May 15th, 2026. A $25 fee will be added to your account. This fee must be paid in order to complete your registration.

You are able to register on the ACTIVE website up until midnight the Tuesday before the start date of the program. After this time, you are welcome to email or call to inquire about space. We can register your child depending on space available in the camp requested. Please note that camps can fill up quickly!

Your username is always your email address. If you forgot your password, simply click the “reset password” link below the Login box on the login page. This will prompt you to enter the email address we have on file for you and then send a “reset password” email to you with a link to create a new password. 

No, an official tax receipt for tax purposes will not be provided. However, you can download the payment receipt from your ACTIVE registration account and use it for tax purposes. As every family’s circumstances are different, we recommend you work with your tax accountant to determine the amount that can be claimed for tax purposes, if any. 

For our Full-Day Camps (9:00am-3:30pm):

• Regular drop-off: 8:40–9:00am
• Regular pick-up: 3:30pm

For our Half Day Camps (AM only 9:00am-12:00pm):

• Regular drop-off: 8:40–9:00am
• Regular pick-up: 12:00pm

For our Half Day Camps (PM only 12:30pm-3:30pm):

• Regular drop-off: 12:30pm
• Regular pick-up: 3:30pm

Your child will be sent to After Care if they are not picked up by 3:40pm as our staff have responsibilities they need to get to at this time. A late charge of $25 per camper will be charged if they are sent to After Care.

Yes. If campers are being picked up early from camp, please notify the Instructor at morning drop-off, and/or email the Camp Office, camps@collingwood.org.

For the safety of your child, only those on the Authorized Pick-Up list (indicated when you register a camper) will be permitted to pick-up your child from camp.

If you would like to authorize another adult to pick up your child during the week, please do this online in your ACTIVE registration account or email us at camps@collingwood.org with the full name of the person and we can add it to your account. Every camper must be checked out through Collingwood Camps staff to ensure their safety. Please establish very clearly with your child exactly who will be taking them home.

Participants in Specialty Camps entering Grades 6-8 have the option to check themselves out. There is a question on the registration form and this must be done at the time of registration. If you have already registered and you want to allow them to check themselves out you may add the child’s name as an authorized person to pick up on your account.
 

We know traffic and life happen! If you realize you won't make it by 3:30 p.m., please give our Camp Office a quick call or email so we can reassure your camper.

To ensure every child is supervised, campers remaining after 3:30 p.m. will join our After Camp Care program. A $25 late pickup/drop-in fee will be applied to your account to cover the cost of this additional supervision.

Staff are truly the key to a great camp experience! We carefully select top candidates for the interview process after reviewing their extensive application form. Most of our staff are part of our faculty and staff team. We also hire coaches, specialists and counsellors with previous camp experience, as well as experience supervising or teaching children and the ability to connect with a variety of ages and backgrounds, skills that contribute to our camp programs, as well as camp characteristics such as creativity, enthusiasm, leadership, flexibility, well-being and a genuine desire to support camper learning and growth, to name just a few! All staff are required to have their Standard First Aid certification and we complete reference checks as well as a Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check on all camp staff.

All staff must attend multi-day mandatory staff training held on Campus, reviewing best practices, risk assessment, emergency protocols, behaviour management etc. Our training is revisited during daily meetings where staff discuss any immediate concerns and how we can improve and prepare for the upcoming weeks.

• Entering JK - 1:6 ratio for supervision
• Kindergarten - 1:8 ratio for supervision 
• Entering Grade 1-2  -  1:8 ratio for supervision 
• Entering Grade 3-5  -  1:8 ratio for supervision 
• Entering Grade 6-10 -  1:14 ratio for supervision 
• Camps may also have one high school student volunteer which is not accounted for in the ratios
• Some camps may have a smaller camper to instructor ratio to ensure proper supervision depending on the activity ie: Adventure Camp

Your child’s health is our top priority! Our camp leaders are all trained in First Aid and carry kits to handle any minor bumps or scrapes. They are also equipped with walkie-talkies for instant communication with our Camp Director and medical team.

If they feel unwell: If a camper isn't feeling their best, we’ll find a quiet place for them to rest and reach out to you. If our Camp Director feels it's best for them to head home and recover, we’ll give you a call right away.

In an emergency: For more serious situations, we will contact emergency services and notify you immediately.

Staying Home: To keep our whole camp community healthy, please keep your camper home if they are feeling under the weather.

A note on refunds: We know illness is unexpected! While our standard policy applies, refunds for health-related cancellations are reviewed by our Camp Director on a case-by-case basis.

We have allocated indoor spaces for each camp to use. The campers will also utilize the shady outdoor areas for more quiet activities. We also have water refill stations set up throughout the campus allowing campers to refill their reusable water bottles throughout the day.

We believe camp is a wonderful place for children to grow, and that includes learning how to navigate social situations! On the first day, we share our "Camp Guidelines" with all campers in fun, age-appropriate ways so everyone knows what to expect.

Our Philosophy: Our staff are trained to resolve conflicts fairly and use "teachable moments" whenever possible.

Parent Partnership: If a challenge arises, we’ll reach out to you to discuss what happened and create a consistent plan to help your child succeed.

Our Safety Line: To ensure a "Safe & Fun" environment for everyone, we have a zero-tolerance policy for bullying, violence, or behavior that puts the group at risk. In rare cases where a camper’s behavior consistently impacts the safety of others, they may be asked to leave the program without a refund.

All parents will receive a Parent Information Package by email in the spring. This package will include all of the important information you need to know before the first day of camp.

Collingwood Camps has safety and emergency procedures on which all camp staff are trained during pre-camp training. All emergency procedures are reviewed with campers on the first day of each camp.
