The Arts are a Platform, Not a Box

We’re pleased to share our next Alumni Spotlight, part of our storytelling initiative highlighting exceptional Collingwood alumni who continue to make an impact in their fields while staying connected to our community.

This spotlight features sisters Sky Lilah ’14 and Taisha Teal Wayrynen ’11, the executive leaders behind the Vancouver Visual Art Foundation and Art Vancouver. Their unique career paths – combining gallery curation with fitness coaching, art therapy, and international operations – offer an inspiring look at what it means to build a thriving, multi-faceted career in the arts, alongside family.

Alumni SPOTLIGHT SERIES

Resources

Class of 1990

Patrick Ward ‘90

We have a remarkably diverse and seasoned group of graduates within our ranks, who I have found are incredibly open and eager to help one another.

Class of 2000

wendy fok ‘00

The journey has been important, but the friendships from Collingwood have been lasting. I am still closely in touch with many of my friends at Collingwood.

hannah wolverton ‘12

I am where I am today in life and in my career thanks to these experiences and the lasting relationships with the people that make this Collingwood.

Class of 2020

kourosh shahbazi DOE ‘20

I cannot thank the alumni team enough for giving me the opportunity to speak to older alumni regarding career paths and life after University.

We've spotted an Alumni!

McKinley Kennedy '20

Former Head of School, Rodger Wright, and former Wentworth Principal, Ian Kennedy, were recently spotted at U of T, cheering on Ian's daughter McKinley. McKinley was playing for University of Toronto in the University National Field Hockey Championships against UVic. Though UVic ended up taking the lead in the best-of-three playoff, McKinley was still a standout on her team and performed at the top of her game!

Zack Yamaoka '16

While attending the Metro Vancouver Zero Waste Conference with a small group of students, Ms. Field ran into her former student and Collingwood alum Zach Yamaoka. Zach was representing BAM robotics, a robotics startup that is developing a trash sorting robot. We love hearing about the incredible careers and passions that our alumni are pursuing!
