This camp is sure to be up beat! This week will include instruments, singing and dancing! Your child will learn fun new songs and have a chance to make instruments of their own. Other activities during the week may include supervised games both indoors and outdoors, as well as reading and arts and crafts.

If your child is registered in both the morning and afternoon program this week, there will be a supervised lunch break from 12:00-1:00.

Nature Explorers, #602 (waitlist only)

Children love to garden and explore in the forest! This program offers your little one the chance to learn all about gardening as well as venture out into the forest. Children will have a chance to plant their own seeds and plants and care for our outdoor garden. They will also participate in art activities and read books with a gardening and forest theme. Other activities during the week will include literacy-based activities and supervised games both indoors and outdoors.

If your child is registered in both the morning and afternoon program this week, there will be a supervised lunch break from 12:00-1:00.

If you love stories and creative play, Young Authors is the program for you. Children will be exposed to many different types of picture books, with the end goal of creating their own story. Through the exploration of Lego and other “loose parts”, children will build a storyboard and develop their own characters, setting and plot for a short story or comic. The hands-on experience is especially beneficial for those reluctant writers; however, all children will delight in the creative play. You are never too young to become an author!

Little budding chefs can come join this group as we work on literacy skills through the love of food! Children will cook simple recipes, explore and harvest from the school’s garden, engage in fun crafts and activities while at the same time working on their math and language literacy skills. Children will also create their own recipe book that they can take home at the end of the week.

Make your child’s Collingwood Camp a full day experience by adding on our afternoon program. Following a supervised lunch, our summer staff will lead campers through a variety of activities both indoors and outdoors. Cooperative games and arts and crafts are among the many fun “campy” activities that are planned with a different theme in mind each week. Our afternoon programming will complement your child’s unique instructional program in the morning, and is sure to keep campers engaged and active throughout the day.
