Farewell to Mrs. Stuart

Collingwood School

Christine Stuart has been a guiding force in Collingwood’s early learning community since 2005. Now, after 20 years of inspiring both students and colleagues, she’s saying goodbye to the classroom—but not without leaving a lasting mark on the School.

Ms. Stuart began her Collingwood career as a Kindergarten teacher, stepping into a maternity leave role that soon became permanent. Known for her calm presence and clear passion for the youngest learners, Christine thrived in a setting where, as she describes, “every moment of every day was different and often unpredictable.” Eight years later, she became the School’s first Director of Primary Program—a role in which she brought both vision and heart.

During her time at Wentworth, Ms. Stuart helped shape and strengthen Collingwood’s early years programming. She was instrumental in launching the Junior Kindergarten class, a goal she had long imagined and worked to bring to life. She also introduced new literacy programs that continue to benefit students today. Through it all, Christine remained focused on nurturing the warm, welcoming environment that she herself experienced upon arriving at Collingwood.

Her advice to new teachers? “Lead with your heart. Forming genuine relationships with children is the foundation of every good teacher.”

Christine’s impact goes far beyond curriculum and programming. She has been a steady, supportive presence for two decades, mentoring colleagues, leading with integrity, and championing the importance of joy in learning.

Though she’ll be greatly missed, Christine is looking forward to a well-earned retirement that includes travel to Europe and India, long walks, gardening, and perhaps even painting and poetry.

Thank you, Christine, for 20 years of heart-led leadership. Collingwood is better because of you.
