Once upon a time, Collingwood’s Morven Campus housed all students at the primary and secondary level. While it was wonderful to have the whole school under one roof, space was at a premium and room for growth had run out. A major challenge laid ahead: how to expand the school.
The School held some land at Wentworth Avenue and was lucky to acquire a larger adjacent parcel that provided the opportunity to build a second campus. The construction began in 1996 and just a week before school was set to begin in 1997, a building inspector gave the Wentworth Campus a stamp of approval. Thanks to the new campus, the Junior School was able to grow from two classes per grade to four and specialist teachers were brought in to teach French, music, and physical education. With the opening of Wentworth in such a short time, the School’s commitment to progress was on full display.
Then, in the early 2000s, plans for an expanded Wentworth Campus took motion. A new wing would house Grade 6 and 7 students with state-of-the-art facilities for science, technology, and hands-on learning - now known as the Telfer Wing. This space opened in 2010. To this day, dreams remain for continuous improvement to the Junior School.
