40 Years Have Come to a Close
Jill Slattery

The Collingwood community spent many special moments celebrating our 40th Anniversary this past year. From a jam-packed Founders' Day to a memorable Ruby Jubilee Parent Party, and many more events that brought us all together, we had a truly outstanding year.

This also marks the end of our weekly 40 Stories for 40 Years series. For the last 40 weeks, we delved deep into the Collingwood archives, digging up yearbooks, old hard-drives, photo albums, and tapping into the memories of a few legendary Collingwood comrades. Special thanks goes to Lisa Evans, Dave Speirs, Kaleigh Garland, Eric Waters, Kadin Burnett, Jeff Stacey, Ryan Tobin, and Angela Nielsen for their contributions, memories, and research.

One theme emerged again and again as we explored these stories: it’s our community that has built Collingwood into the school it is today. No single person or group has driven our progress alone — it has always been a shared effort. Parents, Board members, the Foundation, school leadership, students, faculty, staff, and coaches have all played a vital role. Everyone who walks through our doors has the power to make a lasting impact.

As we look ahead to the next 40, 50, or even 100 years, one thing is certain: that spirit of collective contribution will continue to define us.
