- Culture
One of the best parts about a Collingwood education is access to unique learning experiences. For over 30 years this has included some exciting travel opportunities around the world that expose students to different cultures, ways of life, and global issues. We’ve criss-crossed the globe for service learning trips, educational tours, student exchanges, athletic tours, and more. Students tell us they return from these trips with maturity, confidence, curiosity, and a new outlook on the world – with a heck of a lot of stories to boot!
The trips and opportunities we offer have evolved over the decades, and our Service Learning model has transitioned away from “volun-tourism” and into a focus on local people as changemakers, rather than volunteers as changemakers, and building connections. The destinations students have visited span the four corners of the world, including Argentina, Australia, Western and Eastern Europe, Thailand, Kenya and South Africa, India, and many more places.
We have also been fortunate to partner with many wonderful schools around the globe for student exchanges. Exchanges were a popular choice for Middle School students to experience a culture for a term or even a full year, but our program took pause during the COVID pandemic and is being built back up. This year, we had exchanges with students in Australia and the UK, and more opportunities are coming soon!
We always want to hear from students – where do you want to go? Tell us what destinations you’d like to see on a school trip!
