21. Collingwood Goes to Hollywood
Jill Slattery

Hollywood North! It might surprise you to know that Collingwood has a little star power in its 40-year history. Not only has the School’s drama program instilled a love for acting and performing in thousands of students, but it’s provided a launching pad for several professional well-known actors who could very well show up on your Netflix recommendations list at any time.

These actors have been in some massive productions, from TV series to big-budget films. One of them even starred in a Hollywood film while he was a student at Collingwood and each of them performed in school productions, beginning in Grade 7.

And the actors are…

Alexander Ludwig (Class of 2010)

You’ve probably seen Alexander on screen as Cato in The Hunger Games, or maybe in Lone Survivor with Mark Walberg, or potentially in Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant. He began acting as a child and before he graduated from Collingwood, he had already starred in two big movies: 2007’s The Seeker and 2009’s Race to Witch Mountain, which opened at #1 at the box office. When The Seeker opened, Collingwood threw a mini premiere party for Alexander and his classmates to watch the movie at the old Park & Tilford movie theatre in North Vancouver. Find out what films and TV shows you can find Alexander Ludwig in, including his five seasons starring in the hit series Vikings, here.

Mackenzie Davis (Class of 2005)
