15. School-Life 30 Years Ago in Photos

Thirty years may seem like a long time, but for those who were around then, it's gone by in the blink of an eye. It was 1994 and gas was less than 60 cents per litre, the average home was just $289,334 ($536,067 in today’s dollars), and The Lion King was number one at the box office. Here at Collingwood, life was buzzing across the Four Strands.

In the arts, the Grade 1s put on a fabulous production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the choir and chamber choir won an "excellent" rating at the Sea to Sky Festival, and the Senior School staged The Glass Menagerie

In academics, a CBC news broadcaster judged the annual Public Speaking Competition and students traveled to Japan, Scotland, Australia, and New Zealand for exchange.

In sports, the Sr. Girls Basketball team won a silver in the "A" provincial championships, and in service, students raised $14,000 by participating in the 30 Hour Famine with over a third of students fasting for 30 hours. And Collingwood traditions like Santa's Breakfast with the Kindie Buddies, and the Spring Fair, were highlights. As it turns out, some good things never change!
