Supporting our EDI Commitment at Home
The work of equity, diversity and inclusive practices requires active involvement from students, staff, and families. We are all accountable; ultimately the success of moving towards a truly pluralistic environment at Collingwood, is in all our hands. Here is how you can support our EDI Commitment at home
- Put down the technology and unplug. Engage in active and reflective conversations. We acknowledge that each family has its own set of values and that we can be successful in this work at school, only if reflective conversations occur at home.
- Attend and participate in cultural events and learn the history of Indigenous communities.
- Support businesses owned by BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) and 2SLGBTQ+ peoples.
- Learn together. Ask questions. Visit the library to learn more on a specific topic. Seek out the work, art, and literature of those who look and believe differently than you.
- Model for your children and family, what it means to be part of a community; reach out to parents and guardians that you have not in the past, and bridge relationships by talking to new members of our Collingwood family.
