Collingwood's powerhouse alpine team won two provincial banners last year. Last week at the North Shore Championships, they proved that they will once again be a contender for provincial glory as both the boys' and girls' ski teams won North Shore titles. Here is Coach Ramsden's report:
The Grade 8 girls' basketball team were in fine form this weekend as they won the ISA Championship. The Cavs used their rebounding dominance and highly effective pass-and-cut offence to take home the title. The boys' tournament was also being hosted by Collingwood. The boys avenged an opening game loss to West Point Grey with a resounding victory over them in the Consolation Final.
Three weeks ago, the Whistler Storm blew into town and sent the senior boys' basketball team into a brief downward spiral when they upset the Cavs on Collingwood's home court. This defeat was tough on both the boys and the coaching staff, but the team's strong finish to the regular season gave Coach Wong hope that the Cavs would be 'storm-busters' in the first round of the playoffs. The Cavs proved their coach right with an outstanding 75-62 victory over Whistler yesterday. Here is Coach Wong's report:
