Maintenance Worker

Collingwood School is currently seeking a maintenance worker for our Building and Grounds department. This is a full time position commencing immediately.

Reporting to the Head of Buildings and Grounds, the responsibilities for this position will include the following:

  • General and detailed building maintenance of all Collingwood School properties
  • Minor HVAC, carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs
  • Interior/exterior painting of Collingwood School properties
  • Event set up duties for both small and large functions
  • Moving and assembly of furnishings
  • Assistance in school traffic control services
  • Snow and ice removal from all school properties
  • Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required
  • Responds to radio calls as required
  • Other reasonable requests or directions from either the Head of Buildings and Grounds or school management
  • The following qualifications are requirements for this position:

  • British Columbia Class 5 drivers license (or equivalent)
  • At least 3 years previous experience in a building maintenance setting (preferably in an Educational, Institutional or Hospitality setting)
  • Grade 12 Diploma (Minimum)
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends if required.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of tools
  • Must possess strong English verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all climates
  • Collingwood School offers a starting salary of $14.50 per hour as well as an attractive benefits package.

    Teacher Intern Coach – Collingwood School

    Collingwood School, the largest co-educational independent day school in Canada, is seeking a full time Math or Science Teacher and Humanities Intern/TOC. As a recent graduate from the Faculty of Education, teacher interns will have the opportunity to gain real school and classroom experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily TOC coverage of classes, while working with and being mentored by, talented educators in either the Middle or Senior School. Teacher interns are connected to a department, and will have the opportunity to receive mentorship in their teaching area.

    All applicants must have an academic background that includes an undergraduate degree with a major in Math or Science, or the Humanities, combined with teaching certification that includes the intermediate and senior divisions. The successful candidate will be immersed in all facets of the school community and will be expected to contribute to the co-curricular life of the school. Candidates with experience and qualifications in coaching [and other co-curricular activities] will be given special consideration.
